Ross Brawn returns, wants a "better F1" for the fans

Former Scuderia Ferrari and Mercedes AMG Petronas Technical Director will return to the world of Formula One as Motor Sports Managing Director as the sport's new owners, Liberty Media, look to bring their visions to fruition.
In an official statement issued on Monday evening, Liberty Media announced that Brawn would be joined by Sean Bratches who will become Managing Director of Commercial Operations.
The announcement shows that the departure of Bernie Ecclestone will be followed also by an operational structure that is contrasting to what has preceded it.
"It's fantastic to be returning to the world of Formula 1. I've enjoyed consulting with Liberty Media these last few months and I'm looking forward to working with Chase, Sean and the rest of the Formula 1 Team to help the evolution of the sport. We have an almost unprecedented opportunity to work together with the teams and promoters for a better F1 for them and, most importantly, for the fans."
Fans the world over will no doubt be excited at the prospect of someone of Ross Brawn's stature being brought in to influence F1's sporting direction.
The move is a statement of intent from Liberty Media. They will no doubt profit should Brawn's arrival bring about an improvement in racing, however the decision also shows that the desires of the fans are being taken into acvount.
It is about time that the fans had a voice in the upper rungs of the sport and Liberty would have been hard-pressed to find someone more suitable than Brawn to give them what they want: exciting racing.

Give it a year and he will walk. He'll realize his grand ideas wont sit well a bunch of wall-street types who are only looking at ROIs. Can't let something like 'good for the fans/sport' get in the way of some steal profits.

The wall Street guys will be good for the sport as they want to make it exciting, as they know they'll make more money this way, Bernie is a deal maker not an marketing man, we need change to the format as young fans coming p or even now will never watch a two hour show on a Sunday afternoon.

You obviously have don't have much ideas about wallstreet let alone the troubles of what companies offering shares in the open market face with clueless investors calling the shots.
As for the younger fans who cant sit and watch the sport in its current format, the sport doesn't need them. Too many of these useless dimwits of the younger generation are busy curled up with their smartphones tweeting or doing some other social networking nonsense. They don't even enthuse for basic human to human interactions, they'd rather like a post on FB. Such lowbrow crowd doesn't suit F1.

Well, F1's fans are dying really soon, so they better make sure they get to the younger generation before that moment comes. Otherwise, F1 will die with them.

All of the current complaints revolve around passionate fans (of all ages) asking for less aero wake, closer racing, merit for genuine skill in overtaking (not some sissy boost button BS), cut back on over-regulation of the sport, consistency in penalties et cetera. No many, if at all any, have really pointed out the length or the format as being the problem in F1 today. It stands to reason length was and is not the issue, especially when most are complaining about the lack of on-track action! The Fridays, Saturdays FPs and even qualifying is a bore because everyone just preserves engines, tyres and parts.
There are already plenty of areas to improve on to provide on-track action but selfish lead teams have vetoed that away in favor of the bore fest we have today. Length of the events were never the issue.
As for fans getting pissed off with FOM, take another example, that swindling p.o.s Bernie used to aggressively have his parasite lawyers issue DMCA notices to Google/Youtube to take down any fan creations and dedication videos to their fav drivers. With such dick moves obviously fan interaction goes down.
If FOM needs some advice it is very simple ---> don't be an A-hole.
