Steiner sees no problem with 25 race calendar

F1 teams may need to adapt if Liberty Media intends to expand the calendar to as many as 25 races. New F1 CEO Chase Carey has already said next year's calendar will weigh in at 21 races, but there are rumours of a much longer schedule beyond that.
Fernando Alonso, however, has threatened to quit the sport if there are 25 races: "Fernando is lucky in the sense that he can afford to go," Haas team boss Gunther Steiner said in Montreal.
"As for the teams, there has been talk about increasing the number of races for a long time, but it would require serious preparation. If this route is taken, and it is commercially viable for us, then why not? We want to be in Formula 1- we are not obliged to be, and if someone thinks there are too many races, they have the freedom to stop," said Steiner.

No, but I do. The current engines wont last that long without penalties, so we'd get nothing but nursing races. Costs concerning spare parts for the car itself would also go up significantly. And more races would mean greater costs for the team without necessarily meaning they will get bigger payment at the end of the season. 25 races would strain teams like Sauber to their very limits. We are not ready for 25 races with the current regulations. If they want more, they will probably need to increase amount of engine components to at least 5 per driver, maybe even 6, or revamp the component regulations to a new system. Engine suppliers would probably also need to draw focus from power to reliability, and would likely have to sell engines for lower costs, something e.g Ferrari has already refused to do.

besides the fact that i have the feeling there's already some boring races on the calendar i think this will stretch the resources of some teams thin. Thats even beside the durability of components that have a max usage before penalties.

As much as I love F1, I think 16-20 races is enough. When the 2016 season was over, it was something of a relief, it was very very long. Plus, teams are not going to like it

There will be new regulations to facilitate 25 race season. Big parts of calendar are set illogically, now they are traveling from Monaco to Montreal then to Baku and then back t Europe, WHY? Baku should be next to Sochi, European GPs should be driven without leaving continent. F1 teams now could same so much money just on logistics if the calendar would be set in order for teams to travel as fewer km as possible.
Personally I hate the Summer brake, you can put 3-4 races during that time without need to prolong the season.
By the time F1 will have 25 races Alonso will be long gone and young drivers will not have any problems racing 25 races in a season.
