Ferrari launches 'Mission Winnow' livery in Japan

Ferrari has launched a portion of its new livery in Japan, which it will run with for the remainder of the 2018 season. The livery carries the logo of 'Misson Winnow', which is a joint promotion with its major sponsor Philip Morris.
Philip Morris is unable to promote many of its own brands due to the heavy restrictions surrounding tobacco advertising. According to Philip Morris International, the project is “to create engagement around the role of science, technology and innovation as a powerful force for good in any industry".
PMI CEO André Calantzopoulos said: “We will use this global platform as a window into the new PMI and to challenge preconceptions, as we know there are many who may have doubts about us and our motivations.
“Our partnership with Scuderia Ferrari gives us the opportunity to build on many encouraging individual conversations with critics and supporters alike and reach out to a broad audience to engage at scale.”
Ferrari previously ran with Philip Morris' Marlboro logos on its car and used the tobacco company as its title sponsor. However it was forced to change midway through the 2010 season due as it was deemed an obvious advertisement for the company.
But Philip Morris continues to use the F1 cars to promote their brands where it is legal to do so. Ferrari's current deal with Philip Morris International is set to expire at the end of the 2021 season.

Mission Win Now in Japan... it won't be easy since FIA added another sensor to their drive unit since Sigapore what probably has got an impact on their lately lack of pace

It took them long to add this sensor. This Charlie guy delayed it probably as long as he could and apologized to Ferrari for installing it. I wonder what other cheats they are allowed to use.

*Investigations... Not investigators... Though it wouldnt surprise me if Ferrari had a hitman or two to deal with certain nuisances...

@F1ISDEAD... If they're assisting Ferrari, you can't probably be talking about the same Charlie and Institution that did nothing when Merc did a secret test, or that allowed them to burn more oil, or that has often mandated compound changes in the middle of the season are you?

I'm amazed that Philip Morris still sponsors Ferrari. It's been over a decade since their logo was last seen on a Ferrari. Yet, they've continued to sponsor them continuously. As much as I think everything Philip Morris does with Ferrari is cheeky given the ban on tobacco, I think that F1 should be allowed any kind of sponsorship from good brands. It would certainly allow for a serious injection of capital into the sport. What amazes me about Europeans is that on the one hand they severely restrict advertising of alcohol or tobacco, but on the other hand soft porn is allowed billboards.

...Not sure why you look at this in amazement? The U.S. has the problem with sex and how it's portrayed /projected on our society, and it's always has a political sticking point that get wrapped up in, women's rights, religion, and the court.
It is MORE LIKELY that your addiction to smoking/alcohol can lead to not only personal death, but also collateral damage/death.
Heck, even our neighbors to the north have soft-porn on their gov't channels. We're the ones that need to have a hard look at ourselves.

In some ways I think tobacco branding could be reintroduced with some amount of benefits to F1, especially considering the raw amount of cash they'd inject into F1, but as a former clinical physician (boy I miss doing lung function measurements) I can say smoking has harmed way too many people, and the less publicity they get the better. I dont mind grabbing a smoke every now and then when Im out with the lads, but to actively advertised it is probably not a good idea.

Haha to further points I get tobacco is bad for my health, but it's way more dangerous to associate cars with alcohol and yet Heineken is a title sponsor...

@DGuzman spot on. Again I wish they allowed all sponsorship. But if there's a bad combination it's alcohol and motorsport.
@2GRX7 I don't see the difference. Alcohol, porn, and tobacco are mainly intended for adults. They all have measurable harmful effects. Some more than others. I guess my point is the arbitrary fashion in which regulation is applied. In the end all I really care about here is F1 being well funded. The way I see it if you're dumb enough to willingly put harmful stuff in your body, that's your business. So long as the advertising is not deliberately deceitful I don't see a problem.

I see subliminal MARLBORO advertising. Awesome as a publicity add move by Philip Morris. Masters of brand advertising if you ask me. Not a smoker by the way....

Yeah, it’s a mirrored ‘M’ so you think Marlboro? Possibly also Morris? And it looks a bit HONDA’ish to me.
