Mercedes responds to Hamilton's emotional social media message

Mercedes has responded to the comments Lewis Hamilton recently made on social media in which he stated he was ready to "give up on everything".
The Silver Arrows has calmed suggestions that he is gearing to leave Formula 1, and has interpreted that it was directed at something not related to the sport.
Speaking to Germany's SID news agency, a Mercedes spokesperson said: "I think he was referring to environmental issues and not anything related to racing. However, I’m not sure.”
In his message, Hamilton added that people should switch to veganism in order to save the planet, saying that it was "the only way" to do so.
Hamilton crossed over to a vegan diet a number of years ago, and recently launched 'Neat Burger' a restaurant that sells vegan burgers.
The Briton is on course for a sixth world championship title this year, boasting a healthy lead of teammate Valtteri Bottas in the drivers' standings. Last time out in Japan, Mercedes secured its sixth consecutive world constructors' title.
Hamilton crossed the line in third place, behind Sebastian Vettel and race winner Bottas, who took his first grand prix victory sine Baku earlier this season.

I'm glad he's finally waking up to the global crisis. With his money and connections he has a chance to actually do something impactful. Kind of hypocritical making strong statements like that and staying in F1 though. I'm sure we won't be hearing him complain about carbon emissions from automobiles until after he wins his 7th or maybe even 8th title. THEN he can bite the hand that feeds him.

Just to put his cause and his profession into perspective, consider a Boeing 747 has a fuel capacity of 238,604 liters. Pre-2014 (powerunit area), with 11 teams and 19 races, F1 teams were alloted 2500 liters per race. Those numbers equate to 522,500 liters for the season! That's a round trip New York/Sydney with a one way to a shorter destination
Again pre-powerunit area where there's even less fuel used per race! I'm thinking F1 is pretty fuel efficient.

He is the No. 1 star in the world's No. 1 sport. He is bound to equal M. Sch.'s record. He has every right to speak his mind and, what is more, his environmental concerns. He is a huge influencer to young people.

Late reply, if he wants to save the world then give his mega earnings to just causes, charities, environment research. That would be a meaningful end result to his gone trotting to zip around F1 circuits
