Mercedes could take the extreme decision to suspend their drivers for a race and fine them instead of implementing team orders.
Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton clashed on the last lap of the Austrian Grand Prix, costing the team a one-two finish and it seems the damaged relationship between Rosberg and Hamilton has become much more intense than Mercedes could of anticipated.
"Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg could be fined or even suspended by Mercedes if they crash again under drastic deterrents being considered by the world champions in a bid to avoid imposing team orders," Daniel Johnson wrote in The Daily Telegraph.
Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff is outraged that the team have thrown away 60 championship points in the last five Grands Prix, and is adamant to inflict punishment one way or another.

OK Toto, you don't have to "Puke yourself", after all, this is all of your doing.
Team orders are in order, just implement them properly, that is not obviously, to the drivers, nor fans. Separate the tire strategies on FP1 and dictate from there. In the race, P1 and P3 will still get you a Constructor's Championship. You cannot impose monetary fines because I am sure their lawyers will tie up the recuperation process for ever.
Suspension would likely mean swapping seats with Pascal for a Manor seat for a race and the offending driver - a PR frenzy for negative publicity, for Mercedes and you.
My suggestion is to terminate both of their 2017 contracts and make them earn next year's rides - to be determined in December 2016.
