Rio Haryanto still not confirmed for full season

Rio Haryanto is still looking for funds to complete the entire 2016 Formula One season, despite reports last week stating he had secured his seat for the rest of the year.

Haryanto joined Manor at the start of the season but despite the wide belief that he had the drive for the year, his seat was only ever guaranteed until this month's Hungarian Grand Prix.

"We don't know what will happen for the rest of the year, our initial agreement with Manor was for 11 races," Haryanto's manager Piers Hunnisett told the Jakarta Globe this week.

"We are still working hard to find solutions to finance Rio with potential sponsors but nothing is confirmed yet," he added.

According to the paper, Haryanto still needs to find 7 million Euros in order to see out the year.

"The team are very happy with Rio's performance and we all hope Rio can make Indonesia proud and stay in F1 and for 2017," Hunnisett added.

speaking at the final in-season test at Silverstone yesterday, Manor test driver Jordan King said he would be ready to step into a race seat should Haryanto be forced onto the sidelines.
