Sauber team principal Monisha Kaltenborn has said that her team is likely to take funded drivers for 2017.
Both Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr are yet to be confirmed for next year, but a takover of the team earlier this year looked to have helped their chances of retention.
However, Kaltenborn has insisted that the team will prefer to take drivers with healthy baking, despite their new financial security, calling the idea "certainly beneficial".
"It would help us in implementing our targets quicker and be a big help in the overall plan we have," she told Autosport. "We have to consider that in view of what the environment is like out there."
She also said that the team will improve next year, despite being behind schedule for much of this year.
"We're confident our car will be better next year and we're hoping to have more sponsors onboard, but in the current environment, it is still about finances," she said. "There is a close link to the more you have, the more you can test and that's what you need to do.
"It would be very beneficial and good the way we are going and help us to do things quicker."
