Verstappen's patience could run out at Red Bull

Max Verstappen's manager has admitted that the Dutchman's patience could run out at Red Bull if the team does not produce a race winning car. Verstappen joined Toro Rosso in 2015, spending just over a year there before progressing to Red Bull.

Many expected Red Bull to produce a championship contending car for 2017, however, they have failed to match the likes of Mercedes and Ferrari and have been forced to play catch up. Rumours suggest that the 19-year-old could be on his way to Ferrari, but Red Bull is adamant that he will be with the team until the end of 2019 at the very least.

"Ever since Max made his debut, there was always interest," said manager  Raymond Vermeulen. "Other teams were ready to offer him a contract, but we want to win with Red Bull Racing Red Bull considers Max their star and will not sell him."

"We do not have any specific deadlines for Red Bull, but it is important that Max continues to achieve success. I'm still confident in the progress of the team, because Red Bull Racing has won four world championships together with Renault. But it must be understood that our patience is not unlimited," he added.

Somewhere I think it will be a loss if Max moves to Mercedes, or any dominant team. I mean almost all current drivers can can win in the best car of the field.     I think he'll end up at Merc as he's more interested in being in the right car, rather than taking the super big bucks from Ferrari, which won't guarantee him the best car.......

    F1 normally gets the best drivers in the best cars. Max is now one of the best drivers. If redbull don't perform in 2018 he will switch; redbull has this same way of thinking with its drivers.

    Let's wait and see what the second half of the season will bring. I think if RBR and Renault don't catchup Mercedes and Ferrari at the end of the season Max will leave if there is a option with Mercedes ore Ferrari.

Max will pull away from the start and that'll be it. No fancy driving, overtaking, defending. I think it will be boring as hell, unless F1 introduces reverse start grids and a weight handicap system. But in that case there is no need to move to Mercedes. I also think it won't do much to develop his reputation further either: driving in front in free air just deprives drivers from demonstrating (or honing) their skills.

      I'd love to see him in a Ferrari, up against SV, given the recent history on track between them. I can't see him playing second fiddle to SV either, which would also be interesting

      I don't see Max end up next to Vettel in the same team. I don't think Ferrari like this idea aether. The want Max as a frontrunner in the team, and the don't want to put more pressure in the team by putting 2 number 1 drivers there. So I expect, (if there will be a move) that Mercedes try to make a move for Max instead of Bottas. Max is more a driver like Hamilton and Mercedes always give there drivers the same chance to go for the title. The don't know aether when Hamilton decide to quit with F1. So the will have have a second number 1 driver who can replace Hamilton in the future.

    So it wasn't really a race winning Red Bull in Baku a month ago? Perhaps I should watch the race again because it sure looked like a race winning Red Bull. Oh silly me, there it is, it wasn't Verstappen's race winning Red Bull! The boy can certainly drive, but he's learnt early how to winge too!

      Every driver wants to be in a fastest car ie a car capable of pole. When is the last time that an redbull is capable of this in normal scenario? Yes the redbull car is a very good car capable of place 4 and 5th place and with luck and a lot of skill to win a race but its not the fastest car. Keep in mind that everything is results based in F1 this also is true for their drivers. Normally the best drivers will get the best cars verstappen indicating this just means just that. Also Redbull did not support his whole career only the last bit of F3 and toro rosso onwards. Unlike Sainz where they bankrolled multiple years before he got to F1.

      Would you say no to the likes of mercedes or ferrari? I wouldn't .. everone knows its a dog eat dog world in F1.

      Excuse me. It was Max on the 2 FP's on friday leading the standings. It was Max on Sunday who was fighting for third place catching up with Ocon before his car was failing. The hole weekend Max was faster than his team mate. So, yes.....silly you.

      No! Red Bull as a team had a winning car in Baku, but it wasn't Max's that time. He's young, ambitious and fast - his time will come, but he also has to accept that he has a team mate who is also capable of winning. I don't think it will matter how I say it, you will take it as an insult to Max, which it wasn't. We're all here for the love of the same sport!
