F1 CEO Chase Carey has reassured Ferrari that their are no plans to make the sport more like Nascar, amidst the teams fears over standardisation of parts in F1. There has been some scepticism from F1's current engine manufacturers in the wake of the announcement of the plans for the make up of F1 post 2021, with Ferrari in particular going as far as saying they will quit F1 if the rules aren't to their liking.
The aim of the new regulations were to cut costs and bring the field closer together by the standardisation of some parts, such as the MGU-H which has been a notoriously complex issue for engine manufacturers to solve. Another aim was to attract new prospective engine manufacturers such as Cosworth who would otherwise have been put off by the extortionate costs involved in F1, but in doing so failed to please the manufacturers currently in the sport.
Carey said this in response to Ferrari's fears: “Actually I don’t think we have a differing view to Ferrari,I’m not trying to be derogatory to NASCAR, but we don’t plan to be NASCAR either.We don’t want to standardise the cars. We don’t want 20 identical cars going round the track, and the only difference is the driver.
“F1 is unique, and it marries up competitive sport to state-of-the-art technology. We want the teams to have the ability to do what they do to create cars that are unique to them – unique engines to them, unique bodies to them.
"We want teams to compete to win, but we want all the teams to have a chance, It’s never going to be equal, there are going to be favourites that evolve, but we want the teams to feel that they all have a fighting chance. Sports are built on the unexpected, and we do want a sport that can have the unexpected. If somebody wins every race every week, at the end of the day, the sport’s going to suffer.

Does Ferrari need F1 no works both ways to be honest as a Ferrari fan I would not be that bothered if they left. F1 is a joke Motogp much better!

They pretty much need one another. F1 is Ferrari's biggest platform for marketing. Where else do they have such a prominent presence? Sure, they are famous enough, but fame needs constant maintenance. As for F1: the vast majority of people in F1 seem to have Ferrari in their top 3. So for Ferrari to leave would be a bad blow for both of them, and in the end is just a stupid idea.
