Newly signed Alfa Romeo driver Antonio Giovinazzi has described his first F1 test as satisfying. The Italian previously competed in two races for Sauber in 2017 as a substitute for Pascal Wehrlien after he was injured in a crash competing at the Race of Champions.
Giovinazzi reached 8th place on the lap time leaderboard and completed 154 laps on the final day of testing, topping the tally of the highest number of laps by an individual driver
"I am satisfied with the progress we have made this week and overall our team is feeling motivated by our recent learnings. We have another week of testing ahead of us which we will use to focus on making further progress and learn even more about our new car."
Giovinazzi added that he feels comfortable in the new car and team and says that they are working together constructively. He also says that driving alongside Kimi Raikkonen will be a benefit.
"For me, he can be a teacher but also a reference during the year. With the results and everything the important thing, in the end, is to work really well together, going on the same direction with the car, and achieve the best result for the team."
Giovinazzi finished by saying that he has a new mindset after his two years in test/reserve driver roles. "This will be my car, I'm working with the team, with my engineer and everything."
"Of course in the last two years I was third driver so I was always jumping to one car and the other car so it was not really easy but now I'm enjoying this moment. I think if anything it's working really well and this is important."

Of course he was satisfied. He was a lot faster than RAI on the same compound. The question are if GIO will benefit the same advantage with engine power and parts from Ferrari as LEC did? How high in ranking within FCA are GIO? I'm Guessing making GIO "look good" against RAI will benefit the Alfa brand and later Mick Schumacher wen he gets to drive against GIO. A Mick S who wil get the benefits from the teams.
