Formula 1 says that it is looking to "address community concerns" amid local opposition to a world championship race in Miami.
Carlos Gimenez, the mayor of Miami-Dade county, used his veto powers to overturn opposition to the event after commissioners passed legislation to ban the closing of streets in order to hold the race.
Liberty Media, the commercial rights holders of F1, has been in discussion with Miami over a grand prix deal for a number of years.
The latest track proposals would see it built around the Hard Rock Stadium, home to NFL's Miami Dolphins. According to the Miami Herald, Commissioner Barbara Jorda said the Dolphins should expect bad publicity if it continues to seek a race.
In a fresh statement from F1, it read: "Along with Miami Dolphins, we are encouraged the County Commission sustained the Mayor’s Veto.
"As Miami Dolphins has done for all its events at Hard Rock Stadium, and as we have done in every city that hosts a race, we will continue to work with the Mayor and the community to make a Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix a huge success for all of Miami-Dade County; including the residents of Miami Gardens.
"We will work very hard to address community concerns in a meaningful way, mitigate any inconveniences or disruptions to local residents, and create an event we can all be proud of."
F1 is hoping to secure a race in the Florida city for the 2021 season.

The trick is to have it before it starts getting cold in the north and all the snowbirds descend on Florida. Never seen such a bunch of whining geriatrics in my life as Florida in the winter. Unfortunately it's probably too hot to have an F1 race there in the summer. If they can come up with a good track layout and make a spectacular event then it could be great. The Miami area is one of the best cities in the US to visit for an event. Definitely in the top 5. It would be a mega win for the city and the sport to have an F1 race there. That area around the stadium they are talking about would be a very good area for a racetrack unlike the other one proposed over the inter-coastal waterway. If you've ever been there you know that traffic over the bridges over the inter-coastal are already a nightmare, and they were proposing closing off one of the main traffic routes for a weekend. The stadium is a much more spread out area that can fit many people and there's lots of parking. People say forget it Miami, so ok, name a better realistic city that you would rather go to in the US to see an F1 race. F1 wants big crowds so any tracks that can only hold 30k-40k people won't even break even for any of the players. San Francisco would be awesome but having an F1 race there wouldn't be very PC and would probably never get approved.

Fuck Miami and their reticent residents. They don't deserve GP. There are plenty of cities in the US that would love to host an event. Miami isn't special. It would be nice, but it's not special either.
