Pierre Gasly wins to bring title fight to the wire

Pierre Gasly won the GP2 feature race at Abu Dhabi to bring the title fight to the last race of the season.

Gasly led from the start but had to cut through traffic after stopping early on to change onto the supersoft Pirelli tyre. Nobuharu Matsushita finished the race in second.

Third was Russian Artem Markelov, ahead of his compatriot Sergey Sirotkin in fourth. Antonio Giovinazzi was promoted to fifth after a five second time penalty was handed to sixth placed Norman Nato.

Giovinazzi lost time as he was forced to stay out a lap longer over team mate Pierre Gasly during the pit stop cycle. The worn supersoft tyre was said to have been three seconds per lap slower than the fresher medium compound which were on the cars that started lower in the field.

Johnny Cecotto came home in seventh. Eighth was a very disgruntled Alex Lynn who colourfully complained about having no grip at the end of the race to his engineer. However that finishing position means he will start tomorrow's sprint race from pole position.

Nicholas Latifi came home in ninth with Raffaele Marciello claiming the last point in tenth.
