Colton Herta has ended second practice from the Texas Motor Speedway on top of the timesheets.
After Thursday saw a shortened practice session due to a sudden and heavy downpour, teams and drivers returned to the circuit for the final session before qualifying.
Herta, who won the second round of the year at the Circuit of the Americas set a lap of 222.451 mph to go to the top ahead of Takuma Sato.
Alexander Rossi, whose livery for the weekend strikes a resemblance to partial teammate Herta, was third for Andretti Autosport.
Will Power was fourth while Marcus Ericsson, fresh from his maiden podium finish in the NTT IndyCar Series, was fifth for Schmidt Peterson Motorsports.
Power was the busiest driver during the session, clocking 106 laps for Team Penske.
Scott Dixon, who won the race in Texas last year, ended the session ahead of Graham Rahal and Ryan Hunter-Reay.
Hunter-Reay racked up the fewest laps of any driver, crossing the line 55 times. The Andretti racer concluded practice ahead of Josef Newgarden and Sebastien Bourdais, who rounded out the top ten.
