Coulthard onder indruk van ontwikkeling Formule 1

Red Bull Racing-coureur David Coulthard is bezig met zijn afscheidstournee in de Formule 1. De Schot stopt aan het einde van het seizoen en dus is het de hoogste tijd om al een beetje terug te kijken op zijn periode in de koningsklasse van de autosport. Hij debuteerde in 1994 en sindsdien zijn de auto’s flink veranderd. Coulthard verbaast zich over de snelheden waarmee hij nu bochten kan nemen.

De Schot testte deze week op de Hockenheimring en was onder de indruk van het gemak waarmee hij nu sommige bochten kon nemen. “We gaan nu vol in de zesde versnelling door die rechterbocht het Motodrom in. Ook in de eerste bocht gaan we zo hard. Voor de acceleratie op de rechte stukken na die bochten is het beter om de vijfde versnelling te gebruiken. Het probleem is alleen dat als je terugschakelt, je tijd verliest bij het insturen van de bocht.”

“De voorgaande jaren gingen we hooguit in vijfde versnelling door die bochten en dan niet met het gaspedaal naar beneden. Op Silverstone gold hetzelfde. In Copse Corner reden we vorig jaar nog in de zesde versnelling, nu is het volgas in de zevende versnelling. Echt ongelofelijk”, aldus Coulthard in Auto Motor und Sport.

    Dat is het dus, coulthard is niet langzamer geworden, de F1 gaat gewoon te hard voor em :)
