Premier Balkenende wil circuit Zandvoort ontwikkelen

Premier Balkenende is aanwezig bij de Grand Prix van België. Ook voorgaande jaren liet hij zich regelmatig zien tijdens Grand Prix-weekenden. Het is algemeen bekend dat de CDA'er een zwak heeft voor autosport. Graag zou de premier dan ook een internationaal gewaardeerde race in Nederland zien. Of dat een Grand Prix is liet hij in het midden.

Premier Jan-Peter Balkenende: "Nederland is een autosportminnend land. Met Circuit Park Zandvoort hebben we al een fantastisch circuit in ons land, maar dit circuit moet kunnen excelleren. We moeten kijken wat de opties zijn en die gaan onderzoeken."

"Vanuit economisch oogpunt is het natuurlijk ook zeer interessant voor het gebied er omheen, bijvoorbeeld in de hotels. Een race als de A1 Grand Prix brengt Nederland zoveel meer."

Minister-President Balkenende liet tijdens het interview met RTL-correspondent Olav Mol doorschemeren dat inmiddels wordt gekeken naar de mogelijkheden tot een ontwikkeling van Circuit Park Zandvoort.

      Dacht het niet want voor de rest is het CDA waardeloos en van de F1 kan ik niet eten.

    vind ik ook Michel. Kreeg Schumi in 1998 ook een straf toen hij op Coulthard knalde daar ben ik wel benieuwed naar

      Nee fout van Coulthard. Reed veel te langzaam op de racelijn terwijl hij gelapt werd. Het was ook een beetje te verwijten aan de omstandigheden.
