BMW Sauber: "Herstel leverde Heidfeld nieuw contract op"

De manier waarop Nick Heidfeld zich herstelde van een moeilijke fase eerder dit seizoen heeft BMW Sauber dusdanig overtuigd dat het contract van de Duitser werd verlengd. De beslissing over de rijders voor 2009 werd zelfs uitgesteld om Heidfeld de kans te geven zich te herpakken.

Teambaas Mario Theissen tegenover SID: “Oorspronkelijk wilden we in de zomer al onze keuzes voor volgend seizoen maken. Nick maakte de afgelopen weken een flinke progressie door en dat heeft hem contractverlenging opgeleverd. Zijn mindere periode had ook niets te maken met zijn racesnelheid of zijn inhaalkwaliteiten. Hij kreeg de auto in de kwalificaties alleen niet zoals hij wilde. Daar hebben we samen hard aan gewerkt, met name aan het opwarmen van de banden, en dat heeft zijn vruchten afgeworpen.”

    zo goed vindt ik hem ook niet presteren de laatste paar races.
    ik had liever alonso gezien in de bmw
