Liam Lawson nieuwste lid van Red Bull Junior-team

De Nieuw-Zeelandse coureur Liam Lawson is door Red Bull toevoegd aan haar junior programma. De jonge coureur zal aankomend seizoen te bewonderen zijn in de Formule European Masters, het voormalige FIA European Formula 3-kampioenschap.

Lawson werd dit jaar kampioen in de Toyota Racing Series in eigen land. Hij zal in 2019 gaan rijden bij Motorpark en zal teamgenoot worden van Yuki Tsunoda. Tsunoda is onlangs op voorspraak van Honda aan het Red Bull talentenprogramma gekoppeld. Lawson reed in eigen land de Formule Ford en stapte daarna over naar de Formule 4.

Tijdens de Toyota Racing Series van dit jaar versloeg hij onder andere Ferrari-junior Marcus Armstrong en Red Bull-junior Lucas Auer.

Het is voor Motopark het tweede jaar op rij dat er minimaal één Red Bull-coureur voor het team actief zal zijn. Verleden jaar werd Daniel Ticktum voor Motorpark tweede in het FIA Formule 3-kampioenschap. Ook Max Verstappen reed één race voor Motopark. De Red Bull-coureur won in zijn enige race voor het team de Masters op Zandvoort.
