Ben Hanley rondt eerste test met nieuwe GP3-auto af

De nieuwe generatie GP3-wagen heeft zijn eerste meters afgelegd. Ben Hanley, een voormalig GP2-coureur, trapte de nieuwe bolide op zijn staart voor een shakedown op Vairano en twee dagen testen op Magny-Cours. De eerste geluiden over de auto zijn positief.

Hanley: "De toename in kracht is enorm door de komst van een V6. De klank is ook flink beter, dat viel me tijdens het rijden meteen op. De wagen is meer veeleisend, je moet op het randje rijden en het wordt plezierig om met de GP3/13 te racen. Daarnaast is deze auto visueel mooier om naar te kijken. Met deze bolide stijgt het niveau van de GP3 Series."

Didier Perrin, technisch directeur bij de GP2 en GP3: "Het doel van de test op Magny-Cours was een strategie vinden om de motor en versnellingsbak optimaal samen te laten functioneren. Dat is het belangrijkst in de eerste fase van de ontwikkeling. De volgende stap is focussen op de aerodynamica. We dienen de data uit de windtunnel naast de data van het circuit te leggen."
