Red Bull-talent met Van Amersfoort Racing naar Duitse en Italiaanse F4

Van Amersfoort Racing gaat in 2020 samenwerken met een coureur uit het opleidingsprogramma van Red Bull Racing. Jonny Edgar zal voor het team uitkomen in de Duitse en Italiaanse Formule 4.

Edgar is al sinds 2018 onderdeel van het Red Bull Junior Team en afgelopen jaar maakte de 15-jarige Brit zijn debuut in de internationale autosport. Hij werkte een seizoen af in de Italiaanse Formule 4, waar hij het seizoen op de tiende positie afsloot. Bovendien werkte hij namens Jenzer Motorsport ook een aantal races af in de Spaanse en Duitse Formule 4-kampioenschappen.

Ook in 2020 komt Edgar weer uit in de Italiaanse Formule 4, waarbij hij dus de overstap maakt naar Van Amersfoort Racing. Voor dat team zal hij een dubbel programma afwerken, want hij gaat ook een heel seizoen in de Duitse klasse rijden. "Vorig jaar was mijn eerste jaar in de Formule 4 en ik heb van iedere minuut genoten", vertelde Edgar over zijn overstap naar Van Amersfoort.

"Dit jaar moet ik mijn niveau opkrikken terwijl ik in tegelijkertijd in twee van de zwaarste F4-kampioenschappen meedoe. Meer dan ooit ben ik klaar voor deze uitdaging en ik mik op niets minder dan zilverwerk! Ik heb veel vertrouwen in Van Amersfoort Racing. Tijdens de wintertests zorgden ze ervoor dat ik me thuis voelde en ik kijk heel erg uit naar het rijden van een succesvol seizoen voor het team."

CEO Rob Niessink van VAR voegde eraan toe: "We keken al een tijdje naar Jonny, dus we zijn heel blij dat we hem hebben gehaald voor het komende seizoen. Hij is nu klaar om te strijden om de hoogste trede op het podium, nadat hij vorig jaar zijn eerste F4-campagne had. Jonny kan op de steun van het hele team rekenen en we zullen hem op iedere mogelijke manier helpen. Uiteindelijk hebben we hetzelfde doel: titels winnen!"

ben benieuwd hoelang hij in de opleiding programma zal blijven :)

  zoals altijd hangt dat helemaal van hem zelf af, maar voorlopig is er geen enkel junior programma dat zoveel coureurs naar de F1 heeft gebracht dan dat van Red Bull.
