Da Costa niet langer gesteund door Red Bull

Vier jaar geleden maakte Red Bull bekend dat het de Portugees Antonio Felix da Costa zou gaan ondersteunen in zijn autosportloopbaan. Da Costa kreeg sinds 2012 steun van Red Bull en werd in zijn eerste jaar in de World Series bij Renault vierde. Daarnaast pakte hij dat jaar ook de overwinning in de beroemde Formule 3 race in Macau. In 2014 leek het erop dat Da Costa zijn Formule 1-debuut zou gaan maken bij Toro Rosso, maar uiteindelijk werd gekozen voor de Rus Daniil Kvyat.

Da Costa heeft wel ervaring in de Formule 1. Zo mocht hij testen voor Red Bull en Toro Rosso en verzorgde hij regelmatige demonstraties met het Red Bull Formule 1-showteam. Momenteel rijdt Da Costa namens BMW in de DTM, dit seizoen werd hij elfde in het kampioenschap. Da Costa over het beëindigen van de steun van Red Bull: "Ik ben erg blij dat ik onderdeel ben geweest van de Red Bull-familie. Dat de ondersteuning nu stopt brengt me niet in mineur. Ik zal afscheid nemen van een hechte groep mensen die me op fantastische wijze hebben ondersteund en hebben me laten proeven aan de Formule 1. Mijn toekomst ligt in de DTM en dit blijf ik combineren met de Formule E. Zonder de steun van Red Bull was ik nooit zover gekomen."

Tja Red Bull bevind zich momenteel in een luxe positie. Dat wss 5 jaar geleden wel anders... voor Da Costa geldt: leuke coureur, maar niet F1 waardig. Er zijn vele betere coureurs momenteel.

Felix da Costa heeft mij ook niet overtuigd in de DTM. Deed leuk mee, maar meer dan dat ook niet.....

Mooi plekje voor (waar hij waarschijnlijk al mee bezig is) Giedo van der Garde! Laten we het hopen..... dan ga ik weer naar de DTM in Zandvoort en vele met mij denk ik :)

Spijtig. Best wel een goeie piloot maar nogal wisselvallig.
Heb hem in de WS heel mooie dingen zien doen.
