Auer pakt eerste DTM overwinning

Mucke Mercedes-coureur Lucas Auer heeft zijn eerste overwinning in de DTM behaald. De Oostenrijker startte de tweede race op de Lausitzring van pole en wist de race vrij eenvoudig te winnen. Audi-coureur Mattias Ekstrom werd tweede voor Robert Wickens. Wickens gaat als leider naar in het kampioenschap naar de Norisring.

Auer kende een goede start en wist de leiding te behouden. Auer maakt zijn verplichte stop vroeg en was na alle stops nog steeds de leider. Ekstrom wachtte lang met zijn stop en probeerde aan het einde van de race tevergeefs het gat te dichten naar Auer.

Ekstrom had het na zijn stop wel even aan de stok met Jamie Green en Robert Wickens. Wickens pakte uiteindelijk de laatste podiumplaats. Wickens wist zijn positie ondanks DRS van Green succesvol te verdedigen. Gary Paffett finishte eenzaam op de vijfde plaats voor Marco Wittmann en Vietoris. Vietoris zou de race als tweede starten, maar werd na de kwalificatie teruggezet vanwege het blokken van een concurrent.

Nico Muller en Bruno Spengler finishten als achtste en negende, terwijl Timo Glock het laatste punt pakte. Glock startte de race als tweede, maar kon de snelheid uit de kwalificatie niet meenemen in de race. De volgende races in de DTM zijn in het weekend van 24 juni op de Norisring in Neurenberg.

Auer heeft foutloos gereden, en heel constant met snelle rondetijden. Eerste DTM overwinning voor Mucke Motorsport, proficiat!

DTM is echt een tombolla, winnaar van zaterdag start zondag in de achterhoede en finished de race niet eens.

  Dat maakt de DTM ook zo mooi...
  Gelijkwaardige auto's waarin geduwd en getrokken wordt. Belangrijk is dat je je auto zo heel mogelijk houdt en jezelf toch naar voren probeert te rijden.
  Iedereen heeft de kans om te winnen, maar dan moet je het wel goed doen in je kwalificatie, want als je achterin start, ben je de Sjaak...
