Mercedes evalueert Jaafar bij test met W02 op Silverstone

Jazeman Jaafar stuurt vandaag een Formule 1-bolide rond op het circuit van Silverstone. De 21-jarige Maleisiër is in een Mercedes W02 uit 2011 gekropen voor een evaluatietest. Jaafar en Mercedes zijn via hoofdsponsor Petronas bij elkaar gebracht.

Mercedes kwam eerder dit jaar nog in opspraak vanwege een bandentest voor Pirelli. De Duitse renstal benadrukt via Twitter dan ook dat er dit keer geen aanleiding voor ophef is. "Voordat iemand zich begint op te winden, de auto is het model uit 2011 en we rijden op demonstratiebanden."

Jaafar was dit jaar fulltime actief in de World Series by Renault, waarin hij één keer op het podium belandde en in de eindstand de zeventiende plaats bezette. Hij reed ook nog drie races in het Brits Formule 3-kampioenschap, waarin hij twee keer zegevierde.
