Start- en landingsbaan Sotsji te kort voor Formule 1-transport

De luchthaven van Sotsji moet verbouwen voor de Formule 1. De start- en landingsbaan is te kort. De toestellen waarin Formula One Management al het materiaal naar de overzeese races te vervoeren hebben minstens 3,5 kilometer nodig, meldt Speed Week.

Over zo'n lange start- en landingsbaan beschikt de luchthaven van Sotsji nog niet. En na de Grand Prix van Rusland dient alle apparatuur binnen een paar dagen naar Japan getransporteerd te worden voor het volgende raceweekend. Nadere bestudering van experts van FOM heeft uitgewezen dat de start- en landingsbaan te weinig lengte heeft en dat uitbreiding noodzakelijk is.
