Red Bull Ring krijgt toestemming voor Grand Prix in 2014

De terugkeer van de Grand Prix van Oostenrijk op de Formule 1 kalender is officieel een feit. De Red Bull Ring had eerder al een officiële plek gekregen op de 2014 kalender, maar de organisatoren hadden nog niet al de benodigde goedkeuringen ontvangen van de lokale autoriteiten.

Aanvankelijk hadden de organisatoren slechts toestemming gekregen om 40.000 toeschouwers te verwelkomen, maar volgens de krant Kleine Zeitung hebben lokale autoriteiten vrijdag toestemming gegeven voor een publiek van 225.000 mensen over het gehele weekend.

Komend seizoen staat dus officieel de Grand Prix van Oostenrijk weer op de kalender. Dit is voor het eerst sinds 2003, toen Michael Schumacher de race op de toenmalige A1-Ring wist te winnen.
