FIA homologeert sensor om brandstoftoevoer te meten

De internationale autosportbond FIA heeft het licht op groen gezet voor Gill Sensors om sensoren te leveren waarmee de federatie dit jaar de brandstoftoevoer bij de teams gaat controleren. Dat meldt Auto Motor und Sport. De renstallen zijn vanaf nu gebonden aan strenge regels voor het verbruik van brandstof.

De FIA was verwikkeld in een race tegen de klok om te zorgen dat de teams komend seizoen de regels met betrekking tot de maximale brandstoftoevoer na zouden leven. De sensoren die ontwikkeld waren om dat te meten bleken in eerste instantie niet accuraat genoeg. Partner Gill Sensors heeft hard gewerkt aan een verbeterde versie.

Daar zijn ze in geslaagd. De nieuwe sensor is door de FIA gehomologeerd. Gill Sensors stelt in een verklaring: "Deze sensor voldoet aan de accuratesse die de internationale autosportbond verlangt. We zijn verguld dat de FIA vertrouwen heeft in de performance en betrouwbaarheid van onze brandstoftoevoer-meter."
