Dubbele punten niet hoog op de agenda voor teams

Het voornemen om komend seizoen in de seizoensfinale dubbele punten uit te delen incasseerde de afgelopen weken veel kritiek van de fans, maar de teams lijken niet van plan om die maatregel nog onderuit te halen. Op 22 januari vergaderen de renstallen samen met de internationale autosportbond FIA over de nieuwe regels en de toekomst, maar de vereiste unanimiteit om dit besluit terug te draaien is ver te zoeken.

De dubbele punten-regel staat niet hoog op de agenda voor de bijeenkomst van volgende week, weet Autosport. Lotus-teambaas Eric Boullier: "Eerlijk gezegd sta ik hier vrij neutraal in. In dit geval kan het alles veranderen in de laatste race in het kampioenschap. Het klopt dat het een andere filosofie is dan we gewend zijn. Het belang van het slotstuk neemt toe en de beloning voor een heel jaar hard werken neemt af. Maar zo is besloten, het is er al door. Misschien gaan we hier nog over discussiëren, ik heb geen idee. Om eerlijk te zijn stel ik me op dit punt vrij makkelijk op."
