Williams ingericht voor succes op de lange termijn

Het team van Williams onderging deze winter nogal wat veranderingen. Op het personele vlak trok de Britse renstal veel engineers van buitenaf aan, Felipe Massa volgde Pastor Maldonado op en voor de nieuwe V6 turbo ging Williams in zee met Mercedes in plaats van Renault. Allemaal wijzigingen om succes op de lange termijn te waarborgen, legt Claire Williams aan Autosport uit.

"Alles wat we gedaan hebben is gericht op de lange termijn. Niet alleen op voortbestaan, maar ook om in de toekomst weer succesvol te zijn. We hebben strategische keuzes gemaakt om te zorgen dat er weer wat moois aan de horizon gloort voor Williams. Het waren geen overhaaste beslissingen, het zijn geen noodverbanden. Het is een bewuste nieuwe aanpak."

"Met Mercedes hebben we een overeenkomst voor de lange termijn. We hebben stabiliteit in onze line-up en we zijn opgewonden over onze coureurs. En ook in de directie heerst rust. Onder leiding van Pat Symonds draait het in de technische staf eveneens om stabiliteit en het klaarstomen van opvolgers. We hebben wat schokkende prestaties neergezet, maar we knokken terug."

"In tijden van tegenslag groeien we bij Williams naar elkaar toe. Dat heb ik wel geleerd over de mensen hier, die zijn taai. Iedereen voelt nu dat een nieuw tijdperk aanbreekt en dat motiveert. We hebben veel wijzigingen doorgevoerd om de kans op een succesvolle toekomst voor Williams te maximaliseren", aldus Claire Williams.
