Ecclestone: "Dubbele punten in slotrace een zekerheid"

Het plan om dubbele punten in de laatste race van het seizoen uit te delen gaat absoluut door. Dat benadrukt Bernie Ecclestone in gesprek met Christian Sylt voor Autoweek. De kwestie staat nog wel op de agenda voor de volgende Strategy Group-bijeenkomst, maar dat is niet om het te annuleren.

Ecclestone: "Het gaat zeker gebeuren. Ik heb nooit gezegd dat iemand nog een veto erover uit kan spreken, dat is namelijk onmogelijk. Het is al goed gekeurd door de Formule 1 Commissie en de World Motor Sport Council heeft het bekrachtigd."

De enige reden dat het op de agenda staat voor de Strategy Group is uitbreiding van het concept. "Ik wil weer kijken naar dubbele punten voor de laatste drie races. Dat is lastiger voor elkaar te boksen, maar als alle deelnemers instemmen is het nog mogelijk", aldus Ecclestone.
