Mercedes rijdt deze week met gebaar voor Schumacher

Het team van Mercedes siert de nieuwe W05 voor de eerste testweek in Jerez met een boodschap voor Michael Schumacher. De zevenvoudig wereldkampioen kwam drie seizoenen uit voor de Duitse renstal. Hij ligt sinds eind december in een coma na een skiongeluk.

De steunbetuigingen stroomden van alle kanten binnen, maar Mercedes wilde nog een gebaar maken tijdens de eerste test van 2014. Daarom staat in Jerez op de cockpitrand van de W05: "Blijf vechten, Michael."

      Waar slaat dat nou weer op. Dit is toch weer de eerste keer dat ze met de auto op het circuit te zien zijn na zijn ongeval? En ze hebben openbaar vanuit de fabriek allang hun steunbetuigingen gedaan hoor. Dit is alleen maar mooi dat ze het op hun auto zetten.

      van Ferrari heb ik het de hele tijd gezien. Dit is de eerste keer, dat ik iets van de zijde van Mercedes zie komen. Dat wat je schrijft vanuit de fabriek is dan aan mij voorbijgegaan. Toch heb ik de indruk dat Ferrari , tot nu toe ten minste, veel actiever was met hun steunbetuigingen. Daar slaat dat op.

      Ik heb ook mijn twijfels, vind ook de informatievoorziening niet heel goed. Natuurlijk hoeft dat ook niet en mag de familie dat prive houden; maar zo is bijvoorbeeld naar mijn weten niet bekend of ze hem al hebben geprobeerd wakker te maken.

      Als hij nog steeds in een kunstmatige coma is, tsja dan is het volstrekt logisch dat hij niet wakker wordt. Als ze de medicijnen die hem onder zeil houden al stop hebben gezet dan is de maatstaf toch meestal wel een uur of 96; ben je daarna niet wakker dan ziet het er slecht uit.

      Maar goed, de enige bron die informatie "lekt" die ik vertrouw is die Gary Hartstein die arts is en bevriend is met Schumi. Hij omschreef het al als dat enkel een wonder hem nog de oude zou kunnen maken.

      Vind het overigens een mooi gebaar van Mercedes. Zoals Stitch zegt doet Ferrari misschien wel iets meer; maar die Facebook berichten die elke dag voorbij komen is ook wel weer wat overdreven. Ik krijg soms de indruk dat ze doen alsof hij al overleden is.

      @NEOR2: hbe je ook weer gelijk in. Helaas maakt het hem ook niet beter op dit moment. Pas als ie bijkomt, heeft ie d'r wellicht wat aan.

      Inderdaad een drama. Ik kan wel zeggen dat dit hem helemaal een legende maakt, maar daar heeft Michael natuurlijk helemaal niets aan. Ik blijf hopen op een wonder, maar als hij al bij zou komen is het nog maar zeer de vraag in wat voor toestand hij dan zal verkeren. Nogmaals, echt een drama dit.
