Genii verkoopt aandeel Lotus aan Yota Devices Company

Lotus-eigenaar Genii Capital heeft een minderheidsaandeel verkocht aan Yota Devices Company, een Russische mobiele telefoon-aanbieder. Dat bericht brengt Autosport. Hoeveel aandelen Yota heeft aangeschaft is niet bekend gemaakt, maar het zou om ongeveer tien procent gaan.

Een woordvoerder van Yota bevestigde dat de overeenkomst met Lotus onderdeel uitmaakt van een investeringsplan. "Het is geen sponsoring, we hebben aandelen gekocht. Het is ook belangrijk om te benadrukken dat onze eigenaren deze deal hebben geïnitieerd en niet ons bedrijf zelf."

"Het doel is simpel, Formule 1 heeft een sterk engineering component met veel innovatieve technologieën. Dus wij willen kijken of we die kennis kunnen transfereren van de Formule 1 naar de IT-wereld."
