Lotus en Marussia betalen inschrijfgeld voor 2014

Lotus en Marussia hebben hun aanmelding voor het komende seizoen bekrachtigd door het inschrijfgeld over te maken naar de internationale autosportbond FIA. Dat vernam Autosport van de federatie. Beide teams stonden voorwaardelijk op de deelnemerslijst voor 2014.

De twijfel rondom hun inschrijving voor dit jaar is nu weg. Marussia-teambaas John Booth verkondigde aan Autosport: "Ja, onze deelname is bevestigd. Als klein team moeten we onze cashflow goed managen, laten we het zo noemen. Soms moet je dan prioriteiten stellen, maar we wisten dat het betaald moest worden en het is betaald toen dat noodzakelijk was."

Booth is gelukkig met het debuut van de MR03 in Jerez, maar hij kneep hem wel even. "Ik hoorde alle verhalen over tegen sputterende auto's en dat baarde me wel zorgen over onze installatierun, maar dat verliep vrij soepel. We hebben veel te leren, alles is nieuw voor ons en we proberen zoveel mogelijk meteen de eerste keer goed te doen."
