Meerderheid teams tegen dubbele punten in drie races

Bernie Ecclestone zal al zijn capaciteiten aan moeten spreken om de teams te overtuigen toch akkoord te gaan met uitbreiding van de veel besproken dubbele punten-regel. BBC Sport bespeurde bij de meeste renstallen geen animo om in te stemmen met het controversiële plan. De dubbele punten voor de seizoensfinale hebben al genoeg schade aangericht onder de fanschare.

Alleen Lotus maakte publiekelijk een statement. "Het beste zou zijn om in alle races dubbele punten uit te delen", luidde de ludieke opmerking van een woordvoerder. Over de timing van deze eventuele wijziging aan de reglementen heerst ook veel onvrede. Dus krijgt Ecclestone waarschijnlijk nul op het rekest, al beweerde een insider: "Als Bernie iets wil, dan gebeurt het meestal ook."

Gezien de tegenstand onder de teams tegen dubbele punten voor de laatste drie races van het seizoen lijkt die kans nu niet groot. Ecclestone heeft unanieme steun nodig. Slechts één renstal hoeft maar bezwaar aan te tekenen en het plan kan voorlopig op sterk water. Daar staat echter tegenover dat het huidige concept met alleen dubbele punten voor het slotstuk ook niet geliefd is.

De teams vinden het een kunstmatig middel om de spanning in het kampioenschap te verhogen en zijn van mening dat toeval een te grote rol kan spelen. Bovendien hebben ze ook te maken met de wensen van de promotors. De organisator van de Braziliaanse Grand Prix, een bondgenoot van Ecclestone, is volgens bronnen wel geïnteresseerd in dubbele punten voor zijn race.

Gewoon terug de eerste 6 plaatsen punten geven, zoals vroeger. Zijn we ook ineens af van de teams die in Q3 gewoon in de pit blijven staan om bandjes te sparen...

Anders doen ze alleen dubbele punten voor Ferrari, want daar ging het om toch? En dan niet alleen de laatste drie races maar het hele seizoen.
