Quesnel heeft wel oren naar teambaas-functie bij Lotus

Olivier Quesnel doet niet geheimzinnig over zijn standpunt met betrekking tot de positie van teambaas bij Lotus. De voormalig rally-baas bij Citroën en Peugeot schuift zijn interesse voor de baan in elk geval niet onder stoelen of banken. Het woord is nu aan teameigenaar Gerard Lopez.

Quesnel vertelde aan RMC Sport: "Ik ga niet doen alsof ik geen belangstelling heb. Er schijnt een shortlist te zijn waar ik op sta. Ik ken Gerard goed en we hebben gesproken over het Formule 1-team. Lotus is een geweldige renstal. Voorlopig ga ik rustig verder met mijn werk voor Oak Racing. Gerard weet hoe ik er in sta en hij belt me wel zodra hij een beslissing heeft genomen."

Lopez verklapte aan Infosport Plus dat de shortlist drie kandidaten bevat. "Niets is bepaald. Wat ik niet kan verbergen is dat Quesnel op de lijst staat. Hij is succesvol geweest op het hoogste niveau. Elke kandidaat heeft zo zijn sterke punten, maar alle drie hebben ze ook tekortkomingen. We moeten de knoop snel doorhakken, binnen een week, tien dagen maximaal."
