Xevi Pujolar miste realiteitsbesef bij Williams

Engineer Xevi Pujolar verruilde afgelopen winter Williams voor Scuderia Toro Rosso. Hij was sinds 2003 werkzaam in Grove, met uitzondering van een uitstapje naar HRT in 2010. De Spanjaard voelde zich vorig jaar niet meer lekker in dienst van Williams.

Pujolar legt in El Confidencial uit: "Vorig jaar was vrij moeilijk. Het gevoel was niet meer goed bij Williams. Ik had een frisse omgeving nodig, daarom ben ik verkast. Williams was ooit een grootmacht, maar is ver weggezakt. De organisatie van een Formule 1-team steekt tegenwoordig heel anders in elkaar. Als team moet je accepteren dat het een andere tijd is en dat je geen wereldkampioen meer bent. Dat is natuurlijk zwaar."

"Toro Rosso is een meer zuivere renstal met minder politiek. We werken hier met Britten, Duitsers, Spanjaarden, Zuid-Europeanen. Het werk is ongeveer hetzelfde, maar de omgang met de collega's is anders. Het is meer gemoedelijk, hartelijk, meer Zuid-Europees."
