Jos Verstappen: "Jan Lammers is mij te min"

Jan Lammers wakkerde afgelopen week de sluimerende ruzie tussen hem en Jos Verstappen aan. De 51-jarige Lammers deed in Sportweek enkele pittige uitspraken over Nederlands meest succesvolle Formule 1-coureur aller tijden. De twee werkten één jaar samen in de A1 Grand Prix, maar voor het begin van het tweede seizoen ging het mis. En de relatie tussen de twee oud Formule 1-coureurs zal waarschijnlijk niet snel goed komen.

De uitspraken van Lammers hebben namelijk weer een reactie van Verstappen uitgelokt. In zijn column in De Telegraaf zegt Verstappen: Uit verschillende hoeken verneem ik dat er wordt uitgekeken naar mijn confrontatie met Jan Lammers, die ook aan die Le Mans Series deelneemt. Maar ik dénk niet eens aan hem als ik naar de eerste race in Barcelona toe ga.

In een sportmagazine heeft hij me zwart proberen te maken in een terugblik op onze A1 Grand Prix-periode. Ik sta daarboven. Het typeert de persoon Lammers. Hij is klein en klein gebleven. Het is nog altijd zo dat de kijkcijfers vele malen hoger waren toen ik nog voor Team Nederland uitkwam, dan de kijkcijfers in dit seizoen. Als hij zo begaan is met zijn A1-team, waarom reed hij dan afgelopen weekeinde in Amerika? Maar meer wil ik er eigenlijk niet over zeggen. Ik trek me niets van Jan aan. Hij is mij te min.
