Communicatiefout zorgt voor stilvallen Raikkonen

Even leek het erop dat de Ferrari van Kimi Raikkonen weer geteisterd werd door betrouwbaarheidsproblemen. De F2008 van de Fin viel in de eerste vrije training stil en dat gebeurde vorige week in Australië ook iets te vaak. Nu was het niet een defect aan de motor wat de oorzaak was, maar een communicatieprobleem. Raikkonen kwam zonder brandstof te staan.

Desondanks voornamelijk blije gezichten bij Ferrari na de vrije trainingen voor de Grand Prix van Maleisië. Raikkonen: In de ochtendtraining verloor ik wat tijd door een communicatieprobleem, maar dat hebben we ruimschoots goedgemaakt in de tweede sessie. De auto lijkt het goed te doen en ik ben tevreden over het geleverde werk. Het is altijd moeilijk om te zeggen waar we staan, maar ik denk dat we de rest van het weekend met vertrouwen tegemoet kunnen zien.

Teamgenoot Felipe Massa was de snelste in de eerste vrije training. De Braziliaan over zijn dag: Ik ben zeer blij met hoe deze twee trainingen zijn verlopen. De auto is snel en we kunnen met beide bandensoorten goed overweg. Het is jammer dat ik niet het uiterste uit mijn zachte banden kon halen, want toen zat ik net achter een langzaam rijdende Lewis Hamilton. Desalniettemin gaan we de goede kant op voor de kwalificatie en de race.
