Raikkonen rekent op eerste BMW Sauber-zege dit jaar

Ferrari en McLaren hebben er in BMW Sauber een geduchte tegenstander bij en dat is ook regerend wereldkampioen Kimi Raikkonen opgevallen. De Ferrari-coureur had het in de eerste ronden van de Grand Prix van Bahrein aan de stok met Robert Kubica in de BMW F1.08 en had aan de finish maar anderhalve seconde voorsprong op de Pool.

Raikkonen houdt er serieus rekening mee dat BMW Sauber dit jaar een overwinning gaat noteren. De BMWs zitten ons op de hielen. Het was belangrijk dat ik Robert in de beginfase voorbij ging, want zijn raceritme was heel goed. Ik heb al eerder gezegd dat elke plek dit jaar telt, want het wordt een lang en zwaar kampioenschap. En het zou mij niet verbazen als BMW Sauber dit jaar een paar races weet te winnen.

Ferrari neemt het in dat lange kampioenschap op tegen twee tegenstrevers. Naast BMW Sauber is ook McLaren-Mercedes nog volop in de race, al presteerde de Britse renstal met Duitse motoren de afgelopen twee races niet best. Raikkonen: Er komen nog Grands Prix waar wij de beste papieren zullen hebben, hetzelfde geldt voor BMW Sauber en McLaren. Dit jaar zijn er drie zeer competitieve teams.
