Ross Brawn: "2009-regels bevorderen inhalen"

Honda-teambaas Ross Brawn is ervan overtuigd dat de nieuwe regels in 2009 zullen leiden tot meer inhaalmogelijkheden. Volgend jaar wordt er gereden met minder downforce en worden de slicks opnieuw ingevoerd.

Brawn: "Het is mijn gevoel dat we volgend jaar met meer banden- en mechanische grip rijden en minder met aerodynamische grip, waardoor de auto's elkaar makkelijker kunnen volgen. We proberen voor volgend jaar een auto te creëren die dicht achter een andere auto kan rijden en die dus geen neerwaartse druk verliest tijdens het inhalen."

In de huidige Formule 1 hebben de coureurs te maken met 'dirty air'. Zodra een coureur dicht achter een andere auto komt te rijden, verandert de aerodynamische balans zodanig dat inhalen heel erg moeilijk wordt.
