Sato vraagt Honda om bod Weigl Group goed te keuren

Super Aguri-coureur Takuma Sato heeft bij de Honda-bazen een pleidooi gehouden dat de kansen op het voortbestaan van Super Aguri moet vergroten. De Japanse renstal verkeert al tijden in geldnood en de directie van partner Honda beslist in de komende 48 uur of het in zal gaan op het bod van de Weigl Group. Sato vraagt de Japanse autofabrikant op zijn website om in te stemmen met de overnameplannen.

Honda stond centraal bij de oprichting van Super Aguri, vertelt de Japanner. We hebben altijd nauw samengewerkt en ik begrijp dat ze in een moeilijke positie zitten door het afvallen van de Dubai Investment Capital, die iedereen in de steek hebben gelaten. Ik hoop echter dat ze strijdbaar blijven en Super Aguri de mogelijkheid bieden om een nieuwe investeerder te vinden.

Wij hebben de afgelopen twee jaar bewezen hoe efficiënt we te werk gaan als klein team en als we de steun en de kans krijgen om door te gaan, dan ben ik er heilig van overtuigd dat we competitief kunnen worden. We hebben Honda nu meer nodig dan ooit en ik hoop dat de partijen tot een oplossing komen. Honda staat bekend om de Racing Spirit en ik reken erop dat ze die niet verloochenen.

Ik heb met mensen van de Weigl Group gesproken in Spanje en ze zijn vastberaden om Super Aguri door deze moeilijke periode heen te helpen. Ze zijn niet bang voor de uitdaging en wat dat betreft passen ze perfect bij ons team. Volgens mij is dit een geschikte partner voor ons. Het is ook mooi dat we zo snel na het in het water vallen van de overeenkomst met de Magma Group alweer een nieuwe geïnteresseerde partij hebben gevonden, dat toont aan dat het team een goede reputatie geniet.

Hoe meer zielen, hoe meer vreugd. Ik ben nog immer een voorstander van 15 tot 20 teams op de startlijsten. Super Aguri is een vriendelijk team, en weten met een oude, toch al niet geweldige auto, leuke dingen te doen! Mijn sympathie hebben ze.

Sato als jij die 100milj. op hoest dan wil honda het team wel verkopen voor habbekrats .Ik ben ook voorstander van veel teams maar een ding snap ik nog steeds niet waarom veel mensen aguiri zo steunen terwijl ze er een potje van gemaakt hebben terwijl Spyker uitgekost werd door de meeste.
