AMD gaat niet door als sponsor van Ferrari

Technologiebedrijf AMD heeft besloten om de samenwerking met het team van Ferrari stop te zetten. Dat bericht de gespecialiseerde website fudzilla.com. De scheiding is voornamelijk te wijten aan het vertrek van Henry Richard als marketing directeur bij AMD. Richard was in 2002 verantwoordelijk voor de totstandkoming van de overeenkomst met Ferrari.

Het logo van AMD staat op de wing end-plates van de achtervleugel en op de overalls en helmen van de coureurs. Volgens fudzilla.com heeft het bedrijf de sponsoring van Ferrari al stopgezet en wacht het nu alleen nog tot het sponsorcontract afloopt. AMD wil zich nu meer gaan richten op de Amerikaanse NASCAR-serie. Ferrari ontving jaarlijks tussen de tien en twintig miljoen dollar van de Amerikaanse firma.
