Parijs ontbeert geld om Formule 1 binnen te halen

Parijs is er nog niet klaar voor om de Grand Prix van Frankrijk over te nemen van Magny-Cours. Bernie Ecclestone droomt al jaren over een race in de straten of de buurt van de Franse hoofdstad. De grote baas van de Formule 1 vertelde eerder deze week al dat Magny-Cours niet terugkeert op de kalender.

Hij verklaarde ook met de Franse premier, Francois Fillon, in gesprek te zijn over een Grand Prix in Parijs. De Franse krant Le Figaro meldt nu dat er nog heel wat moet gebeuren voordat de Franse hoofdstad een Formule 1-race kan organiseren. Het grootste probleem vormt het bijeen krijgen van genoeg geld.

De plannen voor een race op het terrein van Disneyland Parijs zijn in een vergevorderd stadium, maar het project ontbeert de benodigde 31 miljoen dollar. Euro Disney, eigenaar van Disneyland Parijs, heeft al aangegeven bereid te zijn gastheer te zijn voor de Grand Prix, mits de Franse overheid de kosten op zich neemt.
