Trulli: "We zijn voorbij gestreefd door Renault en Red Bull Racing"

Het seizoen begon zo veelbelovend voor Toyota, maar de Japanse renstal is de laatste paar races ietwat teruggezakt. Dat is ook coureur Jarno Trulli opgevallen. In Maleisië werd de Italiaan nog vierde, in Turkije kwam hij niet verder dan een tiende plek. Trulli: Het lijkt erop dat we zijn voorbij gestreefd door Renault en Red Bull Racing.

Daardoor wordt het steeds moeilijker om punten te pakken, gaat de eenmalig Grand Prix-winnaar verder. In de eerste drie races lagen wij voor, maar Renault en Red Bull Racing hebben sindsdien een grotere stap dan ons gemaakt. Ze zijn nu één, twee tienden sneller dan ons, terwijl ze in de eerste Grands Prix juist een achterstand van één, twee tienden hadden.Dat toont aan hoe dicht de middenmoot bij elkaar zit en hoe belangrijk de ontwikkeling van de auto is.

Persoonlijk heb ik dit jaar nog geen stap verkeerd gezet. Ik heb wel pech gehad in Australië en in Spanje en dat kan een groot verschil maken aan het einde van het seizoen. Desondanks blijf ik keihard werken om het team te pushen. De basis van onze auto is goed, nu moeten we een volgende stap maken.
