Flavio Briatore steunt Nelson Piquet jr.

Renault-teambaas Flavio Briatore heeft het voor zijn coureur Nelson Piquet jr. opgenomen. De Braziliaanse debutant maakt een moeilijke periode mee en de druk vanuit de media nam de afgelopen weken steeds meer toe. Ook topmensen binnen Renault, zoals Pat Symonds en Steve Nielsen, riepen de coureur op tot betere resultaten.

Briatore kiest voor de vaderlijke aanpak en neemt zijn rijder in bescherming. Tegenover sportnet meldde de Italiaan: Nelson zit overduidelijk vol met talent. Hij is onderdeel van het Renault Formule 1-team en wij hebben hem ook nodig. Daar heb ik nog geen moment aan getwijfeld.
