Bridgestone weigert verbod bandenwarmers uit te stellen

Bandenleverancier Bridgestone is niet van plan om de wens van de teams om de invoering van het verbod op bandenwarmers een jaar uit te stellen, te honoreren. De renstallen en de coureurs maken zich zorgen om de veiligheid vanwege het grote snelheidsverschil tussen autos op koude banden en de wagens met rubber dat wel op temperatuur is. Daarop is een verzoek ingediend om het verbod pas in 2010 in te laten gaan in plaats van in 2009.

Bridgestone heeft overleg gevoerd met de internationale autosportbond FIA en besloten om niet in te gaan op die wens. Hirohide Hamashima van Bridgestone legt uit: Wij hebben de FIA verteld dat wij er alle vertrouwen in hebben dat we een goede reeks banden gaan produceren. De grip zal ook zonder bandenwarmers voldoende zijn. De Japanner gelooft ook niet dat veiligheid de ware reden is dat de teams zich druk maken om het verbod.

Volgens Hamashima gaat het meer om een mogelijk voordeel als de concurrentie banden met minder dan de aanbevolen druk gaat gebruiken. Hun echte zorgen gaat over de minimum bandendruk. Wij bevelen een bepaalde druk aan waar de teams niet onder moeten zitten voor de veiligheid van de band. Sommige teams zien daarin de kans om risicos te nemen en vals te spelen. Daar maakt de rest zich weer druk om en die willen de bandenwarmers behouden voor 2009.

  Vertel dat maar aan Alessandro Zanardi....
  Die heeft beide benen verloren omdat die met koude banden de baan op ging en spinde, terwijl de man één van de meest ervaren en meest begenadigde coureurs was in die klasse in Amerika.

Hoewel ik er egt mee zit met bijvoorbeeld een Zanardi ben ik toch blij dat die bandenwarmers dadelijk er niet meer zijn. Tegenwoordig zijn die autos zowat automaten. Laat die mensen maar weer wat meer werken om de auto op de baan te houden, veel mooier om te zien.

  precies ze zullen wat langzamer zijn de eerste 2 ronden en dat is goed voor de spanning omdat je dan tijd kan goed maken

Willen ze nou zeggen dat je zonder bandenwarmers niet in staat bent om \'vals te spelen\' met de minimumdruk? Of juist andersom?

Helemaal mee eens! Het wordt eens tijd dat de mannen weer moeten sturen! Nu alleen nog een handbak erin en het is helemaal af!
