Kubica geniet meer van Formule 1 zonder hulpmiddelen

BMW Sauber-coureur Robert Kubica meent dat het verbod op elektronische hulpmiddelen mede verantwoordelijk is voor zijn goede vorm dit jaar. De Pool stond al drie keer op het podium en heeft in het kampioenschap slechts zes punten achterstand op de leider. Bovendien kwalificeerde hij zich in alle races beter dan zijn teamgenoot Nick Heidfeld.

Het verbod op hulpsystemen als traction control en engine braking heeft hem zichtbaar goed gedaan. Kubica: Ik denk niet dat ik iets aan mijn rijstijl heb veranderd. Het grootste verschil zit in de auto. Toen ze alle systemen die de coureurs hielpen van de wagen hadden gehaald, voelde ik me meteen beter. De bolide leek veel makkelijker te besturen.

En sinds we met de voorbereidingen op dit seizoen begonnen, voel ik me al op mijn gemak in de F1.08. We krijgen de afstelling beter voor elkaar, ik kan meer aanvallen en ik weet precies wat de auto gaat doen. Vorig jaar was het als een loterij, ik wist totaal niet wat de auto ging doen. Nu voel ik me veel beter in de auto en dat laat zich ook zien in de resultaten.
