Ecclestone geeft toe: "Scheiding met FIA mogelijk"

Bernie Ecclestone ontkende tot nu toe geruchten over een mogelijke splitsing tussen de Formule 1 en de internationale autosportbond FIA, maar nu heeft hij toch toegegeven dat een scheiding tot de mogelijkheden behoort. In de Formule 1-wereld heerst veel onvrede over het aanblijven van Max Mosley als voorzitter van de FIA, ondanks een seksschandaal.

Ecclestone: Joodse investeerders vinden dat de autosportbond niet vertegenwoordigd mag worden door iemand als Mosley. Wat wij nu proberen te doen is alle sponsoren tevreden te houden en zeggen dat een scheiding niet mogelijk is. Maar het kan goed zijn dat de FIA en de Formule 1 wel ieder hun eigen weg moeten ingaan.

Als Max nu komt en zegt dat de Formule 1-teams meer geld moeten krijgen, dan zou ik hem zeggen dat hij zich met zijn eigen zaken moet bemoeien. Alles wat de FIA aan geld heeft komt uit de Formule 1. Zonder de Formule 1 had de FIA in grote problemen gezeten.
