VT1: Massa slaat kloof richting concurrentie

Felipe Massa is zeer goed aan de Grand Prix van Frankrijk begonnen. De Ferrari-coureur realiseerde in de eerste vrije training de snelste tijd en deed dat met een grote marge. Op zeven tienden volgen beide McLarens en Kimi Raikkonen. Massa was met zijn 1:15.306 de enige die minder dan 76 seconden nodig had voor een rondje Magny-Cours.

De winnaar van de Grand Prix van Canada, Robert Kubica, gaf al meer dan een seconde toe op de snelste tijd. Renault-rijder Fernando Alonso eindigde als zesde, maar de Spanjaard wordt na de kwalificatie voor de thuisrace van zijn werkgever waarschijnlijk tien plaatsen teruggezet. Twee minuten voor het einde van de sessie werd zijn R28 namelijk getroffen door een opgeblazen motor.

In de top tien is verder een mooie achtste plek weggelegd voor Scuderia Toro Rosso-coureur Sebastian Vettel. Achteraan eindigden beide Force India-autos, al moet gezegd worden dat Adrian Sutil een probleem had. De Duitser kwam niet verder dan dertien rondjes.

De coureurs hadden in de eerste sessie de meeste moeite met bocht 8. Heikki Kovalainen, Sebastian Vettel en Sebastien Bourdais gingen te wijd in de knijpende rechterdoordraaier, Sutil en Nelson Piquet jr reden zelfs rechtdoor en maakten gebruik van de geasfalteerde uitloopstrook om terug te keren op het circuit. Ook bocht 5, de Adelaide-hairpin, zorgde voor problemen. Jenson Button en Lewis Hamilton schoten daar rechtdoor en Toyota-rijder Jarno Trulli spinde er. Allemaal konden ze hun weg vervolgen.

  Echt wat een zielig commantaar!!! Echter staat de \"2e Corour\" Wel voor Kimi!1 En miss mag je massa niet of ben je echt voor kimi en niemand anders maar massa staat voor hem en doet het tot nu toe beter dan kimi!

  Begrijp me niet verkeerd. Ik ben een \"die hard\" ferrari fan ongeacht welke rijders er zijn. Kimi is een zeer goed en heeft al een wereld titel. Maar als je het hebt over kleurloze rijders denk ik eerder aan Kimi dan aan Massa. Masse toont tenminste emoties. Kimi vind ik maar een eentonige en saaie rijder.
