Franse autosportbond geeft groen licht voor Grand Prix

De ledenraad van de Franse autosportbond FFSA heeft unaniem ingestemd met de aanmelding om volgend jaar een Grand Prix te organiseren. Na het bestuderen van de cijfers van 2008 kwam de raad tot de conclusie dat het verantwoord is om ook volgend jaar gastheer te zijn van een Formule 1-race. In vergelijking met 2007 kwamen er zesduizend mensen meer af op de race op Magny-Cours.

En ondanks dat Bernie Ecclestone een groot tegenstander van het circuit in de buurt van Nevers is, vindt er ook volgend jaar een Grand Prix plaats. De FFSA is echter op zoek naar een circuit om de race van Magny-Cours over te nemen. Banen die vanaf 2010 de Grand Prix willen organiseren kunnen zich in november melden bij een vergadering van de bond. De FFSA zal in juli een lijst met eisen uitvaardigen waaraan de circuits moeten voldoen.
