Ferrari wisselt motor van Kimi Raikkonen

Ferrari-coureur Kimi Raikkonen zal de Grand Prix van Groot-Brittannië hoogstwaarschijnlijk aanvangen met een verse krachtbron. Dat liet teambaas Stefano Domenicali weten. De Fin wordt niet bestraft voor zijn motorwissel, omdat iedere coureur één keer ongestraft zijn krachtbron mag vervangen. Eigenlijk moeten de V8-motoren van tegenwoordig twee Grand Prix-weekenden meegaan, maar Raikkonens motor kreeg het zwaar te verduren in zijn eerst race in Frankrijk door een afgebroken uitlaat.

Domenicali: Wat Kimis motor betreft en met de regels in het achterhoofd om een straf te ontlopen, denk ik dat het verstandig is om hem een nieuwe krachtbron te geven om de risicos te minimaliseren. We hebben al belangrijke punten laten liggen door een gebrek aan betrouwbaarheid. We mochten van geluk spreken dat Kimi op Magny-Cours de finish haalde. Maar die race moet ons wel wakker geschud hebben. We maken als team teveel fouten en gooien daardoor kostbare punten weg. Onze positie in beide kampioenschappen had veel beter kunnen zijn.
