Ecclestone blij met populaire playboy Hamilton

Na zijn magistrale overwinning tijdens de Grand Prix van Groot-Brittannië afgelopen weekend werd Lewis Hamilton wereldwijd de hemel in geprezen. Ook Formule 1-baas Bernie Ecclestone is uiterst tevreden met het optreden van de jonge McLaren-coureur. Volgens de inmiddels 77-jarige Ecclestone is Hamiltons playboy-imago goed voor de sport: Hadden we maar meer coureurs zoals hij.

Hamiltons populariteit is goed voor de populariteit van de sport, dat beseft de oude grote baas van de Formule 1 maar al te goed. Het leven van de jonge coureur ligt onder een vergrootglas. Goede berichten, zoals zijn overwinning afgelopen weekend, volgen op slechte nieuwtjes, zoals het pitstraatincident in Montreal. Ook de roddelpers geniet van zijn succes en kan niet wachten om hem weer op de rode loper te fotograferen met modellen en populaire zangeressen.

Als vertegenwoordiger van de sport kun je er alleen maar van dromen om zon kleurrijk persoon als Lewis in je startveld te hebben, zegt Ecclestone. Ik vind het totaal niet erg dat hij een playboy-imago begint te krijgen. Hadden meer coureurs dat maar. We hebben in het verleden mooie karakters in onze sport gekend. Lewis wordt daar ongetwijfeld ook een van.

Hij noemt niet alleen Hamilton, maar vertelt ook dat hij meerdere malen met Kimi Raikkonen goed contact heeft gehad. Kimi heeft ook zijn wildere kanten, zoals tijdens feestjes. Ook dat is geen probleem, vind ik. We hebben een paar keer samen gedineerd en tegenover mij is hij daar altijd goudeerlijk over geweest. En als hij dronken is, vind ik hem zelfs een nog leukere vent.

Ik wist het niet dat Kimi een feestbeest is..hoewel dat hij al vrouw heeft!!

  Als ik je zin zo een beetje juist geïnterpreteerd heb........
  
  En reken maar dat deze kerel weet wat zuipen is, dat imago had ie wel bij Mclaren iig.
